The main differences between cast iron pipe and steel pipe are in three aspects: using purpose, characteristics and classification.
1. Different uses
The application fields of cast iron pipes are mainly: domestic drainage, rainwater drainage, industrial wastewater, etc. The cast iron pipes should be connected with clamps. Can be used in civil and industrial buildings
Steel pipe is used to transport fluid and powder solids, exchange heat energy, and manufacture mechanical parts and containers. The space truss, column and mechanical support of building structure made of steel pipe can reduce weight, save 20-40% metal and realize industrialized and mechanized construction.
2. Different characteristics
Cast iron pipe has the advantages of safe and reliable operation, low damage rate, convenient construction and maintenance, and excellent anti-corrosion performance.
Steel pipe has simple production process, high production efficiency, many varieties and specifications, and less equipment investment.
3. Different classification
Cast iron pipes can be divided into three categories: straight pipes, pipe fittings and accessories. In terms of material: ductile iron drainage pipe, gray iron drainage pipe.
According to production methods, steel pipes can be divided into seamless steel pipes and seamless steel pipes.. According to the pipe material (i.e. steel grade), it can be divided into carbon pipe, alloy pipe, stainless steel pipe, etc. According to the pipe end connection method, it can be divided into light pipe (unthreaded pipe end) and threaded pipe (threaded pipe end).
